Beginning on October 17, ICI will be introducing Colloquium on the Economies and Societies of India and China (CESIC), a series of private events at The New School. The 3-part series will be hosted by ICI Research Director and Professor Mark Frazier and Sanjay Ruparelia, a former ICI Fellow and a professor at The New School’s Eugene Lang College. Academics from both the school’s faculty and from surrounding educational and research institutions are invited to deliver papers and participate in discussions geared towards enhancing the larger Economies and Societies Initiative. For each monthly discussion during the 2014 fall semester, the presenter is required to distribute his/her paper to participants beforehand.
The Economies and Societies Initiative is a broad program that encourages research collaboration on the social and political formations that have both informed and emerged from the capitalisms of China and India. Research includes both contemporary and historical manifestations of capitalisms in India and China. Interested academic faculty, both from The New School and NYC-based colleges and universities are invited to contact us at indiachina@newschool.edu if interested in attending one of the three events slated for this fall.
