The India China Institute was a proud co-organizer of the first Biennial Conference on China-India Studies that took place at the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy on January 13-14, 2023. The conference set a precedent for collaborative work among research institutes that seek to promote research and curriculum development in the field of China-India Studies. ICI will continue its work with conference co-organizers, including the Centre on Asia and Globalisation at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy; the Center for Global Asia at NYU Shanghai; the Global China Center at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; and the Harvard-Yenching Institute.
Each organizer sponsored a panel of speakers who presented their in-depth research in themes such as Developmental Parallels and Divergence in China and India; Interdisciplinarity in China-India Studies; New Dimensions in China-India Relations; Comparative Political Economy: State Activism and Societal Agency; and Challenges of Comparisons and Connections in China-India Urban Studies. Mr. George Yeo, Former Singaporean Foreign Minister and Chairman and Executive Director of Kerry Logistics Network (KLN), delivered a keynote speech on the India China relations with his wide background in politics, business and the military.
