Border Politics: A Panel Discussion

The lethal skirmishes between Indian and Chinese border patrols that took place in June in the Himalayan sector of their disputed border and continuing tensions have raised new questions about a possible “re-set” of relations between the two Asian giants and the prospects for regional stability. A panel of historians, diplomats, and political scientists will address these concerns through the long lens of history and more recent geopolitical trends.

-Nimmi Kurian: ICI Fellow, Professor at the Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi and author, most recently, of India and China: Rethinking Borders and Security.
-Xiaoyu Pu: Associate Professor & Director of Graduate Studies, Department of Political Science, University of Nevada.
-Tansen Sen: Professor of History and Director of the Center for Global Asia, NYU SHANGHAI, and Global Network Professor, NYU. His most recent book is India, China, and the World: A Connected History (2017).
