In October 2006, Bhojraj Pokharel was appointed the Chief Election Commissioner of Nepal, and oversaw the historic Constituent Assembly (CA) Election on April 10th 2008 – the country’s first post-conflict election. His leadership in the successful planning and implementation of the CA election, against a backdrop of major political and logistical challenges, has been widely recognized by national and international institutions, including the Secretary General of the United Nations. Mr. Pokharel will share his experiences of the CA elections and discuss his views of the future of Nepal’s electoral process.
